Maps for the Run and Bike Routes and
to get to the Float start

The ~3 mile run/walk/hike portion (map below) is a trail course (aka single track), that winds through the woods and around a giant meadow (lovely).  The ~1 mile route covers much the same territory, but just less.  The 100 yard dash will be held in the meadow just before the start of the 3 mi. & 1 mi. events.

The bike route winds its way through the farms and fields of northern Orange County, starting and ending at the Confluence. The exact course is being revised for 2026, but you can get an idea of the area from last year's route (map below). Cue sheets will be available for those who would like them. This website will be updated once the route has been confirmed.

The float component of the event will start and end from the amphitheater parking lot of the West Point on the Eno State Park.  See map below for directions from parking lot to Sennett's Hole.

The 3 mile ambulation route starts at the parking lot ("P" on the map) and goes around the yellow loop counter-clockwise until the yellow and red loops intersect. The route then follows the red loop counter-clockwise 3/4 of the way until red loop intersects with the dotted black line. At this point we'll do a loop of the meadow (dotted black loop) before finishing the remaining bit of the red loop back to the car park/picnic shelter.

The 1 mile route will be a sub-section of the 3 mile route.

The ~15 mile bike route of 2025 started at the Confluence Natural Area (top left of map) and followed the blue line on the map at left to the Dorothy N. Jonson Community Center on the north end of Hillsborough town, where the water and watermelon stop were. We followed the same route in reverse to get back to the Confluence. On average, the biking took about an hour, minus watermelon break time.

West Point Amphitheater Parking Lot to Sennett's Hole

West Point Amphitheater Directions.png

After parking at the Amphitheater parking lot (top right of map, "North Roxboro Trailhead"), walk into the park and you will immediately have the option of turning left onto a sidewalk or going straight, across a creek and up a hill on a gravel road. Either way is fine, but the sidewalk way is a little easier. Whichever way you go, keep the river on your left and head upstream until you reach Sennett's swimming hole (green arrow on left of map).
